At Circle of Concern, one of our main goals is to provide clients and their families with fresh, healthy food. We appreciate every food donation that comes into Circle. Many food drives center on canned non-perishable items, a foundation for any food pantry. But at Circle, we strive to also provide our clients with a good selection of wholesome, fresh foods—fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs and meat. Many of these items have to be purchased.
The Boeing Employee Community Fund has awarded Circle of Concern a grant to increase the selection of fresh food in our pantry. Thanks to this generous grant, we have been able to offer our clients a wide selection of healthy vegetables year round, a wholesome variety of fruits, and sources of protein such as eggs, salmon, whole chickens, and other meat.
Fresh foods such as produce can be costly to purchase. Many of our clients have very little income or rely on monthly government benefits to feed their families. Often they simply cannot afford fresh produce and quality proteins.
Monetary donations are central to maintaining a wide variety of food in our pantry. Because of Boeing ECF’s generosity, our clients have had many more fresh food choices. Countless studies prove the health benefits of having a varied diet. Boeing’s ECF grant has had a direct, positive impact on the health and well-being of the clients we serve. We thank the Boeing Corporation and generous Boeing employees for making a difference in the lives of the families served by Circle of Concern.
