How Some Generous Kids Spent Their Summer Vacations

This past summer, we’ve been so impressed by the kids in our community who collected food and raised money to donate to Circle of Concern. From lemonade stands to scout collections to neighborhood-wide food drives, these young people really stepped up!

Tallie celebrated her graduation from Rockwood High School by donating 300 pounds of peanut butter and jelly to Circle of Concern. She organized the food drive around the theme of “Celebrating with a Purpose.” She’s collected peanut butter and jelly each summer for families in need.

Boy Scout Evan came to the warehouse with a donation of 59 pounds of food that he collected all on his own during summer break.

Aubrey attends elementary school in our service area. Her lemonade stand raised $113 for Circle of Concern.

The Vacation Bible School at St. John’s United Church of Christ collected peanut butter and jelly for the food pantry.

Three children from the Waldman family dropped off $150 that they raised by selling regular and strawberry lemonade.

Sofia is a high school senior who has organized neighborhood food drives for 10 years, all to benefit Circle of Concern clients. She asked for donations instead of gifts in celebration of her 18th birthday in her handwritten letter to her neighbors and donated over 2,700 pounds of food!  “Since it’s such a special birthday, I have a goal of collecting 8,000 cans of food to donate to Circle of Concern,” she wrote. In the video, she talks about why she’s always wanted to bring “hope to the hungry.”

Thank you so much to all of these generous and industrious kids and their families. Your donations make such a difference!
