Our Garden Greens committee supports Circle of Concern’s food pantry by growing and distributing fresh seasonal vegetables to our clients.

We utilize sustainable gardening practices to increase access to seasonal and nutritious produce that can be incorporated into our clients’ daily food intake. This supports our clients’ overall health needs.
Our garden committee is led by experienced gardeners and is responsible for all garden activities, including: planning, scheduling of volunteers, harvesting, preparation for distribution and maintenance of the tools and grounds.

We grow high quality vegetables to meet the dietary needs of our clients. Each year, the pantry staff provides the garden team with their “wish list” based on feedback from our clients. This “wish list” may change over time. To date, we have successfully grown and harvested:

  • Cool weather crops – radishes, lettuce, turnips, bok choy, peas, collard greens
  • Warm weather crops – melons, carrots, tomatoes, pole beans, okra, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, squash, Swiss chard, and spinach
  • Herbs – basil, parsley, cilantro, sage, chives, oregano and thyme

The garden just keeps producing! Here’s what our garden has produced thus far:

  • 2021 – 900 pounds
  • 2022 – 1,500 pounds
  • 2023 – 1,581 pounds
  • 2024 – 1,500 pounds
  • 2025 – 1,771 pounds
